Pruning, regular fertilizer and pesticides will make this plant a showpiece in garden..

Re: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis cultivar
I read hibiscus store phosphorus so NPK preps will likely cause problems, even death in time. Also I read malathion should be avoided. Any recommendations for a fertilizing and spray program? Also any advice as to winter care in lahore? I've already killed 6 rooted cuttings and 4 cultivars are doing poorly so likely won't survive the winter. I'm hanging on for dear life on the rest, about 10 or so types.

yes it loves heavy fertilizer/water/sunlight. I don't forsee a problem of winter care with this plant, just avoid frosting on it. i have this as well as double variety( small height) for couple of years now.

Yes they need low phosphorus, you can use potassium nitrate and ammonium sulfate for them, they need regular fertilizer for sure...

Should I fertilize in winter also? So far I have only used manure at time of planting.

In Karachi, they dont stop growing in the cooler months, hence they could be fertilized... fertilize only those plants which are forming new leaves..

Re: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis cultivar
Beautiful. I have seen some pure white hibiscus blooming in open streets of DHA and i wonder how they grow so good without any care. But growing at home does not seem to be as easy which confuses me. I would welcome a variety which does not require any pesticides.
