According to my experience, dont shift your adeniums in the ground these days. its rainy season and these may rot due to rains.

I'm actually putting the adniums with the pots in the soil so hopefully they wont rot but I have that in my mind and will pull the pots out if I see signs of stress.

The adeniums are in a sandy medium and the pot rim is atleast an inch above the soil level.

Sir jee, do one thing if you done want to much water. Fill the pots with soil up to 1/4 inch(if you want less water then adjust) below rim then fill the space with crush/chips. The chips will bounce of 80% water, allow only enough water to fill the cavities in between and no soil will be lost. I fill my Geranium pots to the top in Monsoons.

Good idea. Would the regular "bajri" do or get too hot?

Regular bajri will do but it should be large enough to easily pick out after wards. Also Kaleem is correct, what ever the water level of the soil, will also be the water level of the pot, be it sand inside. Better to take them out and place them on bricks under a nice canopy of some tree. The canopy should get rid of most of the water what ever is left leave it to bajri.
Regards.

Khan sb don,t place the pots in open ground the plants will rot.i have done this experiment already in the past.its good if you plant them in large pots & place in shade of trees.place them in controlled green house in winter months.actually i don,t like pots so i have left Adeniums.the variety is so many its very difficult for me to keep so many pots.

Finally seeing the Stephanotis sprout. It seemed dormant in the intense heat. I have set it on a side terrace where it doesn't get too much sun, mostly bright filtered light.
