i have read and searched through the forum for mums propagation.. however since a beginner i have not been able to understand the difference between suckers and cuttings.. in crux i have got this

"suckers can be divided and shifted to individual pots in feb -mar
for further propagation cuttings can be rooted in -aug-sept"

I have the same mums plus white daisy types, green buttons, etc. The red ones like yours are flowering and seem to be on the fag end. The other three have completed flowering and have been sheared/deadheaded.

1. Is there a way it can be forced for another flash of flowers. i have deadheaded but dont see any progress if thats possible if any.
2.in the light of what i reproduced above from the forum, please differntiate between sucker n cutting, what should be my future course of action if i have to make multiple plants from them...
thanks in advance

Suckers grow from base of the plant and have roots, see this picture:

Cuttings are taken from stems and mostly the tips, they need to be rooted:

Chrysanthemums produce one flush per season per growing part. When the blooms are finished just chop the plant to 1/3rd size.. it might grow few new shoots for blooming..

yes right.. very nice way of getting us through your garden.. beautiful pompous salvia beds.. a lot of variety.. mums to lemongrass to moringa to stevia and what not.. it seems this was a result of early sowing because my plants are still growing and only dahlias have formed buds..

i think i need to show you my space.. my terrace is east facing which has a building in the east .. so it gets sunlight only when the sun is almost above head.. the terrace has two rooms on the west which stop sunlight after 3 pm .. therefore its a slight struggle for the plants compared to what they could have got on the ground.. will post pics with when they bloom..
