No, none of my dahlias are fragrant... though never checked them in night... Mohan, I haven't used any pesticide since long so my garden is full of insects (both harmful as well as friendly)... from evening mosquitoes swarm my garden and I avoid going in garden by night.. there are snakes too in our area...

yes i can understand that.. mine are growing in containers on the terrace so those variables do not exist for me.. on the downside my plants struggle for enough sunlight..
the fragrance however is not the fragrance you can smell from distance but you have to sniff the flower to actually notice it.. however as the night advances it becomes a little intense.. the fragrance is somewhat cross between a rose and a vinca.. nill fragrance daytime..

Sometimes this is individual characteristic of the plant to produce fragrance... like, i never thought phlox would be scented but this variety which i am growing is highly scented such that you can feel the fragrance in the air from a distance of 9-10 feet.. similarly nicotinas are always described as scented but when i grew them their scent was negligible till the temperatures started becoming high..

Thank you for brightening my day (I frequently view your garden in the morning).
NAUGHTY,NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY of you, you are forcing me to discard my permanent and revert back to seasonal

Why get sad, make best of what is left, ANY WAY ALL GOOD GARDENS DIE WITH THE GARDENER.Izhar wrote:Sir, you should keep a place of annuals in your garden... but i see that your garden has shrunken dont know.. but it saddens me...
INSHAH ALLAH Spring 2017 would be different with a complete reorganisation.
You will still see some annuals.
