The first bloom of the year is opening in rather slow motion but will also last longer. (untreated)
I hope 2013 will be a rewarding Hippeastrum year for me. I have a gigantic task of shifting over 500 bulbs from bed to pots. I intend to do it in February.

Re: Hippeastrum 2013
Fully open
Most of my favourites are in a 25 X 5 feet bed. Having lost track of specific ones I have decided to put them back in pots.
Now that I have developed a reasonable satisfactory medium for the pot, I will put them all in pots and sort them on blooming.
I have already purchased 500 true 10 inch pots and will start the transfer by middle of February.
fa113, Thank you for the offer of assistance. On 15th of Feb. I will pull them out and place them in dry shaded place on 6th day I will cut off the leaves and plant one bulb along with bulb lets if any in each pot. The pots will all go on roof until bloom. You are welcome to visit when ever you like.

To me the interesting feature is the frilled edge of the two upper petals and the colour.
