Anyone has any idea how to crown-graft the Bougainville on a thick old plant rootstock? (Love those expensive multicoloured grafted bougainvillea from Thailand) they r costly and it's one skill I would like to acquire myself...

The first one is from nishat nursery kalma chowk, lahore. I don't even want to tell how much they charged for it....3-4 times the actual Thailand cost. I took rates from thi/china farms and compared with these robbers...

I was at Pattoki a couple of years ago and rooted cuttings of several different colors of Bougainvillea were available in small pots for a mere 20 rupees.

For those in lahore and isl who wish to buy grafted Bougainville and other imported plants, now might seem a bad time as the plants would have been less active/not blooming and the nursery ppl might themselves seem freaked out or worried for the survival of their plants; protecting them under green house etc.
But really, it's also the best time to get the best deals (off season sales u can say). I bought (through alot of bargaining) grafted Bougainville worth 10k (when they'd have full blooms) for 2k. I checked the vitality of all the grafts by peeling the stems and checking fresh green stem underneath. If the grafts are good and the plant alive, Bougainville are very hardy vines and they ll bear through the winter easily. It's a great deal to buy these expensive plants cheap.

This above advice is truest for bigger nurseries bcz they themselves import plants at cheap prices rather than buying from importers at high prices(so would be willing to sell cheap in offseason)

My friends it isn't always Chor Bazaari, they are a commercial venture.

Roadside land is expensive and you would have to sell a lot of 20 rupee plants to break even. Its not the price of the plant alone but the care, nurture and attention it requires that adds to the overall cost.

It is the same the world over, in the UK they have fancy garden centres where all the plants are sold on expensive purpose built benches at waist height, staff wages are by law set at a minimum etc, lighting heating advertisement, losses etc it all adds up

Agreed. And in this same world we too earn our bread the hard way. So every penny saved is a penny earned.
