Lilium 2015/16

Post by Muhammad Arif Khan »

The Friday was spent planting Lilium bulbs. The white Orientals which were only a dozen or so were planted in one 20 inch planter none had sprouted. This time I divided the Asiatic Lilium bulbs in to three groups, the mother bulbs 5 to an 18 inch pot, those around 1 inch diameter, one to a 7 inch pot (about 80) and remaining baby bulbs in a large 24 inches planter. Strange although in the same container in the refrigerator the smaller baby bulbs were in active growth.
Mrs. Noushin Sarfaraz planted fresh bulbs in 1st week of September and her Liliums are on buds.

Yes i bought few from Pride and few from More green. IF vendors are saying truth, i should have at least 3 color liliums this year, but hard to believe that.

I also got 20 large size bulbs of different color of Oriental and Asiatic (LA) from sky seeds this month for Rs. 45 each which are sprouted and some dehydrated but can be used for scaling propagation and experiments. 12 bulbs planted in 14" pots. He told me that we altogether with three other retailers in Lahore ordered bulbs from Holland Hem Zaden B.V. Netherlands. I have not observed ever this size of bulbs in Lahore earlier. Also purchased some big size tulip and iris bulbs.
