Lilium 2016-17

Post by Muhammad Arif Khan »

All Lilium bulbs I had were planted by October 1. Some of them are about 8 inch high.
I would be getting about 100 bulbs tomorrow from Chanannan Din and would plant them immediately.
I also expect to get some from Sunny by the end of November.
Who else plan's to grow Liliums this year?

I tried once in Karachi but Karachi is too hot/short winter so they did not do well. But your liliums have always been a joy to see on this forum!

I bought 5 varieties from Lahore nursery yesterday. all are oriental hybirds and i expect them to be fragrant. I assume chanan din would have same varieties. Orientals flower late than asiatic but i love them for their fragrance. I would buy more varieties of orientals if i come across them.

Is there any other variety of Lilly apart from 'Easter Lilly' that grows well in Lahore without the hassle of chilling

Only 5 colors (not sure as previous outcomes) in Orientals are available in market and it appears that all stocks are from one lot. If some one have different Asiatics or LA lilium stock, let me know.
Brig Sb.s last year Orientates performed poorly and I am care full for investment as perennial in Orientals.

Total 8 orientals and one LA red (original love) varieties are in market. All are over sprouted due to pre-winter supply.
