Re: Blooms
So early blooming, we have yet to see dahlias blooming in Karachi..
There are so many color and forms of dahlia, why dont we make a group purchase for different dahlia varieties, the problem is that they are sold in summers and we grow them in winters.. so we have to save them in summers...

Re: Blooms
Indian dahlias are blooming all over lahore. I am also interested in group purchase. I know ppl save them in summers in soil bed. But i think the nursery walas send them to their murree locations for summers. I am of the impression that dahlia does not grow good from tubers.

Re: Blooms
indian dhalias are considerably easy to save some of the plants are from last year cuttings i have about 150 cuttings in pots some have been left to bloom, for the rest the stems have been broken to encourage growth and will bloom later in spring. The broken stems have also been planted its a bit late but hope to see some of them flower too.

Re: Blooms
Khabbab bhai, both grow good blooms, but the cuttings benefit from good root development as they have nothing as food storage... more roots ---> more area covered to absorb nutrition.. i am in for group purchase for new varieties of Dahlia

Re: Blooms
I agree with khabab the tubers in our climate don't provide good blooms but I am interested to get more variety to my collection I aam in for a group purchase. The cuttings prove to be a better bloomers. I pulled.out the tubers last year and put them in an empty pot under a mango tree when the season starts they start to sprout I put them in the ground and take cuttings from the new growth I don't let the tuber bloom it makes a mother which I would use next year as well

Re: Blooms
Yes taking the cuttings from tuber growth is the best technique, you can easily multiply your favorite color...
