Do you prepare your own cuttings every year or just buy them from local nurseries?
I ll be able to get chrysanthemum from abroad whose flowers are even bigger than dahlia.

Yes i do grow them from cuttings but i had only one color so added a few new colors this year to my to my collection. Havent seen a 12 inch chrysanthum bloom compared to a dhalia's bloom, lets see if the imported ones can do better.I've been buying chrysanthums for the past 7-8 years this is year couldnt find a single plant that was upto standard.

Yup, I know, because those are not available here already.I hope to get them in february. There were times when indian dahlias used to bloom over 18inch in size.I do hope to get indian dahlia cuttings directly from india next season.

Talking abut 12 inch blooms, Japanese Iris aka Iris Ensata also bears blooms around 10-12inch in size. They are the biggest blooming iris of all.

Re: Dhalias Starting to Bloom
Over the years the size of our Kashmir/Indian Dhailia has gone down considerably, more over the choice has become limited.

Re: Dhalias Starting to Bloom
Yup india has more than A hundred colors available for indian dhalia wish i could import some of those.
Indian dhalias are very easy to grow compared to the chrysanthums keeping the chrysanthum plant alive during the summer is oddly a difficult task
