Kaleem sb, outstanding. Saw the pictures many times and enjoyed.

In my view they will, provided they are saved from two big threats, ie, frost and dryness. If a frost free humid place can be ensured than they will thrive better in ground. Otherwise, keeping them in pots provides better flexibility as they can be shifted during severe weather.aykhan wrote:So you don't think they'll survive in the ground?

Re: Hostas
I placed all the pots under building shad (Car Porch or Veranda) not under plant shad because buildings protect it from three sides, so these are remain safe during the months of May, June and July. We can grow in the ground but there are two points, those should be in mind
1- Plant dormant in winters and many growers forget the exact place and dig the ground for other plants during its dormancy period and lost the plant.
2- Its very hard to protect from hot air of May, June and July, so again it may be killed.

Re: Hostas
I agree the "loo" of May and June is the biggest challenge for us in Lahore with temps rising to 42-48 even! Few plants have problems with wet weather of July, August and September other than bulbs and tubers.

Yes the green house is still there but I can't cool it
There were hausta growing in my home when I was in the US so it's kind of nostalgic for me. Maybe I will give them a shot...

Re: Hostas
If we maintain the temperature of green house below 35C then green house is benificial for growing Hostas. I agree with AYkhan Sb ," LOO" is the basic problem in the months of May, June and July.

Re: Hostas
I have three differant ones growing in large pots in the uk. Without close monitoring they always get attacked by slugs/snails leaving them all tattered and torn
Great to see yours without a single blemish on the leaves. Im tempted to take some corms back to pakistan with me
