Bulbs are fascinating they enchant you with beautiful blooms without much fuss.
In my early days of gardening I tried every bulb that I could lay my hands on.
Due to my in-experience or other reasons I gave up all except a few.

A lot of data is available on internet especially from various sites/universities of USA but none from places say like Lahore.
I find that many members of this form are growing a variety of bulbs under different conditions.
It would be very educating for all of us if each was to give in detail her/his experience regarding each bulb being grown under local conditions, the success the failures and so on.
Please give your experience of each bulb, regarding general management, grown in pots or beds, the soil, lifted or left in soil, stored dry or moist, in storage kept at room temperature or chilled, planting time, watering, fertilisation and any other point considered relevant.
This data would be much, much more reliable and useful than any found on internet.

I planted around 50 bulbs of 'Nargis' in beds for wild growth, soil was sandy silt. They went very well, also bloomed. Unfortunately bulbs were dug up and eaten by porcupine. So lesson learnt that now i will have to first get rid of this issue before planting more.

However the places where this is not an issue i plan to plant bulbs, but need to have a mixed wild growth in an area of about 100 square feet.

What bulbs grow best for a climate like Islamabad ?

Would look wonderful only if not over powered by grasses/weeds.
 Pre pair ground, Fertilise and water, when moist and not muddy cover it with thick black plastic, Cut X and plant bulbs through the X.
