Globe Amaranth/Pansy Growing Guide?

Post by Invisigoth »

After a failed attempt at growing livingstone daisies (mesembryanthemums) http://bit.ly/27A5YKK I want to ask experts that I have these seed packets now and a large pot. I was told by the seed seller at Empress Market that the season to plant Pansies is gone now, the seeds are sown in Summer so they will flower in Winter. I was given a packet of Gomphrena when I asked him to give me something that I can start now that will flower much faster.

So I wanted to get the opinions here, shall I start these seeds with my home made compost? I like to directly grow in the large pot since its much easier than transplanting delicate plants later on. I shall share photos once the seedlings emerge from there on I will see if thinning is required.

Grow Gompherina now ... they are easy and will bloom in 60-80 days after germination... save pansy in fridge and sow in October...

Alright. One thing I was thinking, the pot is pretty large, can I also grow mint with the gomphrena? Perhaps by putting a seperation on top.

That's a shame. I even created a division today so I could grow both together. Mr. Izhar, are you sure I could not give this a shot and see if this works?
