ideas for edging garden walkways

I am considering various alternatives of edging materials for walkway in my garden.I would prefer plants .However I would have to compare costs with bricks,tiles or other edging materials.For plants option nurseries suggest golden Duranta .vinca dwarf and grasses.Any other plant types that members can suggest? The plants should be short ,evergreen need little maintenance and be cost effective.Thanks

there could be many varieties depend on the situation means according to landscape what suits, one options could be Asparagus densiflorus I personally like this plant, find the link for the detail http://www.gardeningpakistan.com/viewto ... =37&t=2378 and also check Alternanthera varieties they are good for edging and bordering.
