grass is drying what to do

i have planted grass patches on cardboard witn 1/2 inches soil sand mixture under the grass ,the grass is becomming yellow and getting dry now, what to do now , plz help me , i am much worring about that

not enough soil, grass needs more media and more importantly free drainage. The card board will not let the water drain out
