Worsleya procera

Post by mikhurram »

Considered to be rarest of all Amaryllises, Worsleya procera is an endangered bulb variety found hanging from granite cliffs in Brazil where it gets mists from nearby waterfalls. Below is an image of a blooming Worsleya courtesy of http://www.strangewonderfulthings.com/184.htm

Fortunately i was able to get hold of a 5 month old Worsleya bulb propagated through tissue culture with a mini pot (Lechuza) having substrate composed of (pumice, zeolites, lava, and slow release fertilizer) and a water gauge level.

A Worsleya bulb having this size would flower in 4-10 years.
