In addition to those non-toxic and environment friendly excellent recipes I have tested the following which work very well.farhan137 wrote:Read this

This is quite effective on mealy bugs and other nuisances - get dry reetha (so called soapwort). Boil half a kg in 1L water very well. It will be a soapy solution. Strain and, after cooling spray thoroughly, essentially drenching the infected areas (look underneath the leaves). This solution is extremely bitter. Use with caution!

Just for information, Reetha water is also used by Halwais (sweet makers) to clarify the sugar syrup they use for dipping Gulab-jamun, Rus-gullay etc.
And for the pest control specially Aphids.. Try to run your fingers under the leaves and killing them manually every 2-3 days, this will create panic among them and they will leave.. my experience

Interesting...didn't know about its food applications that too in sweets. Aphids are so loathsome I don't the feel like touching their super bulging stomachs filled with leaf juices of our plants :-(Tahir Khan wrote:Just for information, Reetha water is also used by Halwais (sweet makers) to clarify the sugar syrup they use for dipping Gulab-jamun, Rus-gullay etc. :)
