Roses 2016-17 in Gulzar-e-Hijri

Post by Izhar »

Following roses were purchased from Changa Nursery this year in February end:

1) Mr. Lincoln
2) Fragrant Plum
3) Caprice de Meilland
4) Elina
5) Fredric Misteral
6) Alec's Red

They were kept in a nursery nearby my home, they all sprouted beautifully and bloomed too but they were severely attacked by beetles and the nurserymen didn't sprayed well to control the damage, so I brought them home in August... they are planted in soil with manure mixed...

From October I started using NPK 20:20:20 2 gram/plant twice weekly... what I do is to dissolve 400gm in 2000 ml water, this take around 30 minutes to dissolve completely.. then take 60 ml from this concentrate to be mixed in 6 litre water.... give one litre to each plant...

The plants responded nicely and I also used Imidacloprid and dimethoate for the pests.. spraying every 10-15 days is best..

I pruned them in mid November:

They have started blooming from first week of December..

Alec's Red, heavily perfumed and big sized bloom which tolerated the sun well and doesnt fade even after 1 wee.. however, fragrance diminishes:

Mister Lincoln, very large and strongly scented:

Caprice de Meilland, shocking pink.. strong fruity fragrance and big size:

Fragrant Plum, medium sized mauve with pink edges, moderate to strong fruity fragrance:

Very nice Izhar sb, hats off. Kindly inform about dosage of Imidacloprid and can we continue it throughout the season?

1 gram per litre (25 percent WP powder)

Yes ...in fact you have to do this on regular intervals...

It is not systemic so the effect will be only during spray...

Which systemic do u suggest that can be used along with imidacloprid to keep roses pest free. As i think Imidacloprid alone is not sufficient
