You are absolutely right these baby plants emerging from base or soil are known as 'Stool cuttings' ... they are more robust and survival rate is higher.. but not all cultivars produce many baby plants... moreover, these stool cuttings should be removed and replanted when they are 3 inch maximum otherwise the vigor would lost..azwarjaved wrote:Dear Izhar sahib
I would like to extend my knowledge that whats the technicality using the cuttings and planting them for rooting again while we have full bunch of baby plants sprouting around the mother plant. why don't we separate them and plant in new pots, would this not lead to an increased survival ratio of transplants ????

these days dwarf variety of mums is blooming in nurseries, is it propagated same way and their cuttings will produce same dwarf variety.
