Just dug out these amaryllis bulbs. They seem to be dry and healthy.
However one of the bulbs had this powdered white foam like thing on its roots.
Don't know whether this is some kind of disease or not. Anybody?

The picture is not clear but most probably they are healthy root hairs
Now that you have pulled them out what do you intend to do?

@M Arif Khan
As I said earlier, I intend to replace the peat moss mixed soil with fresh river sand for better drainage.
Isn't this the right season to do this?
What do u advise?

Atif.
these are healthy roots of healthy bulb. If a plant is happy in its media why change it?
Anyway how many bulbs you have, how many are already out waiting to be replanted. What had you in mind when you pulled them out?
I will suggest once I have the input

@M Arif Khan. Sir, I had few things on my mind when I pulled my bulbs out;
1. There was too much peat moss in old soil which I thought was the cause of unnecessary humidity and I wanted to give them a medium with better drainage.
2. Fresh soil must contain more nutrients
3. Old soil wasn't selected & applied with care. In fact few bulbs were already planted when they were brought home from nursery. So I thought fresh manure free medium (though not sterilised but) Atleast would be better for them.
4.i haven't watered them for last 30-40 days I.e bulbs were already dormant so I chose this season to pull them out, give them break of approx. two months and then replant them in February.
Now do u think it ok or have I just disturbed the already developed root system.
I have pulled out approx two dozen bulbs at the moment
