Citrus Canker

Post by yawer »

Dear All,
Few of my citrus trees have this disease which is Citrus Canker. Someone advised to apply spray of Bordeaux mixture (also called Bordo Mix) which is a mixture of copper(II) sulfate (CuSO4) and slaked lime (Ca(OH)2). Also to make a paste and apply on all tree trunks.

Although can be done but is there any substitute spray for this disease ? The F-8 Shop gave me a spray "Target" saying it will do the job.

Suggestions are welcome.

regards

I tried looking and as such there is no 'cure' per se. Albeit, you may find this link useful!
Do check this to make sure it really is canker: http://www.crec.ifas.ufl.edu/extension/ ... aken.shtml

Then if sure, read the guidelines here: http://www.crec.ifas.ufl.edu/extension/canker/

Thank you. Gone through the websites and also found some more. Also talked to NARC ex scientist Dr. Iftikhar who did his PhD from Michigan.
I have 20 grape fruit trees and only 2-3 Grape fruit trees affected so far. So chance is that they can survive with Bordo spray and paste as infection has not spread on twigs etc.
Will visit the farm on Friday morning to see the result of my early spray of "Target". On Sunday would spray the Bordo mixture and after one week, will use the Bordo Paste on all the trees in the farm (approx. 250).

Thanks again for the help
