I have been lucky.I shifted(ground to ground with chaki) two standard roses,three 4-5 years old palms(1 Kungi & 2 Fish Tail),one 5ft fruit tree( Annar) & one Logerstroemia last week; all are normal except the last one whose leaves have dried- may be it also revives.

Lagerstroemia will drop leaves quickly if roots are disturbed but should bounce back right away if weather is warm. Just keep shaded till you see buds again.

On final analysis I find I lost very few plants in last three months, the soil is 2-2 ½ feet of sandy loam and drains very well, in-fact I have never seen a pool of water in beds after two hours of heavy rain
As they say there are many a ways to skin a cat, basically my problem is the water of the catchment area flowing through the beds and the simplest answer is not to allow it to flow through the beds, no shifting of Day-lilies only roses and that too for other reasons.
