This year I see quite a few proliferations on my Daylilies.
How to care for them?

I have seen all that net carries, I am interested in local experience.
In Garden web Daylily Forum, Most advocate to start them in water and some recommend putting them in soil streigh away. Last year I had only one and I planted it like a tip cutting and it worked.
If I was to sort of air layer them will they not grow roots while still on the scape?
I am going to try any way.

Easy way out,Today i removed all proliferations,(except those of Black beauty as their stalks still have buds on them) and planted them like I plant tip cuttings except that these are in 20 inch pot.
Buds or no buds, I will plant the remaining day after tomorrow.

Proliferation is a new fan growing out on a flower stalk, as marked below.



Left on their own, as the flowers finish the stalk starts drying small root nodes appear on the base. The stalk now rots from the base and proliferation drops down, if conditions are favourable it takes root or dies.
As the stalk starts yellowing it is best to cut the stalk an inch below. Some people put them in water up to the base of proliferation and plant them as the roots develope. I plant them streight away with equaly good results.
This time I had to do it early as I am Going out on holidays for 7 weeks.
Planting tip cuttings requires no explanation.
You dont have a choice to wait for monsoon.
