Izhar and dear friends, the potting mix in every country is formulated according to what is freely available and the experience. In USA crushed pine bark is the main ingredient and in far east Coco pith and rice husk/charcoal.
Here is what goes in my pots, the ratio keeps changing according to plants and my whim.
Top row ,left to right; Cow dung manure, Leaf compost, Rice husk charcoal, and Coco pith.
Lower row; River sand, Kairy (broken bricks) and Bhall.
For PH I add Ferous Sulphate and Sulpher, Chemical fertilisers are added after plantation on whims.
Please do not hesitate to ask any question that comes to your mind.
Arif

Sir, how could we get the rice husk charcoal??
There is another potting medium which is giving good results (especially for roses in Kolkata, India) is the spent coal cinder of coal power plants...

Rice husk is extensively used in boilers and burnt charcoal is thrown away as waste. My men brought 2 pick up loads from Mureedkay
at the cost of fuel only.

This morning was spent in preparing bulk of potting soil by mixing, Bhall 4 parts, Rice husk charcoal 3 parts, Leaf compost 1 part and cow manure 1 part to which some balanced chemical fertiliser was also added.

Pure RHA, No Sir, Why should I do that? Not enough nutrition, Will not provide proper hold to the plant, changing the pot is almost impossible and dries out rather fast.

I was asking as I saw all the nurseries in Yangon doing the same and their plants were thriving well in extreme heat... they do add manure and compost in the RHA for bigger plants...
