Re: Need name(Solved)
Seeing the photos of Geraniums posted above reminded me that it's quite common to see Geraniums flourishing in balconies particularly in Spain, Italy, Switzerland & Germany. It's definitely a struggle to keep them alive in our plain area during the hot summer months and may the reason that we don't grow it more often here including myself even though they grow easily from seeds and cuttings. I used to grow them regularly 10 years back and a gift of geranium pot raised from seed made me realize that it has become a forgotten plant. Our northern regions are home to many indigenous Geraniums in particular the 'Cranesbill' variety.
The variety displayed below was grown from seed.

Re: Need name(Solved)
Good that you have revived this topic. The lovely bright colour flowers outside houses, particularly the countryside cottages in Europe have always delighted & bugged me.I wondered why we couldn't create these in our houses here & so must have others among us.
I now think it should be possible to a large(if not full) extent, for which we require adequate anwsers to the following questions:
. Which flowers/plants are suitable for the purpose ? I guess the two main flowering plants used in these patio & balcony arrangements are Geranium & Petunia, mostly trailing/hanging varieties. Any other?.
. Are these plants & their hanging varieties available in Pakistan?
. How much maximum period of time they can be kept in bloom?
. If required, what alternative arrangements could be made for the vacant period? If/which Summer & Autumn annuals or other perennials could serve the purpose?
. How well could they be maitained in our environments? Any special look after, care or maintenance required?
. Is it worthwhile, economically viable in time & effort? If yes, it could be attempted.

Re: Need name(Solved)
I had grown Geranium from both seeds and cuttings.. Here are some pictures from last year:-

Most of the plants died during monsoon .. two plants in pots survived. They have again started flowering, will share some pics.. Personally I like the plant very much and am looking forward to increase the number of plants but in pots as they don't survive in open in rainy season.

Re: Need name(Solved)
Munir sb there are many plants used for such arrangements, Geranium and Petunia are two of them, other options include trailing Pansy/Viola, Begonia and some people also use sweet pea and many more but the right plant in the right climate is the main issue, I think for our climate petunia is the best option, it flower profusely and for reasonable time duration.
and one important factor for this kind of show/arrangements is where you place your pots, because I have seen many people growing some trailing varieties but in wrong pots and at wrong places resulting no impression, in EU or UK they place their pots right under the windows
another factor is the colour scheme, they use same colour for the whole arrangement or if its mix then, mix for all pots
hanging basket complement them with same plants, its not so difficult to achieve and as their locations is odd to water and to apply fertiliser, they use slow release tablets, that feed for around six months
in some cases they also plant two types of plants in one bucket those who complement each other, like red petunia with any kind of small white trailing flowers, there are many combinations like trailing petunia with non trailing geranium.

Ivy Geranium
What is the name of that green plant in pot? I have some similar size fancy pots for which I am looking for suitable plants.
