A little help over here please!

Post by Ifrah »

Asslamu alaikum warahmatullah!!

I've got a few plants in my lawn of which I've got no clue what are they named. :(
So please can anyone help me to get this knowledge?!

I saw this one in one of my society's park. The flower is a bit little but the color captured my attention very well.

My husband brought this plant in quite a number & we have planted them for the hedge purpose.

There are lots of these in my outside lawn & anyone who sees it just fall in love with them. They are known as Gul-e-Ashrafi in Urdu language.

My neighbour has planted these in his outside lawn as hedge or maybe border-plant. I'm quite curious about them though!! :!:

Saw these little flowers blooming outside a house in 3 different colors.

Outside many houses of my society I saw this plant being tied-up. I wonder why?!

My husband brought a single plant of this vine & we've planted it near a pole so it may cover it. 2 days later we saw this in full bloom outside a home & it was breath-takingly beautiful.

This is for now. I hope I'm not asking too much!

Rightly said Brig sahib. The plant database section has almost all the profiles of above mentioned plants.

With due respect Sir, I have been trying. It may be a little but still I'm trying. Little steps with each passing moment. I'm also searching things for the questions I have in mind alongside. But if you mind my asking I won't be posting any more from now. Jazak Allahu khayr for your efforts though.

Ifrah, I would highly recommend going through the plant database section which has tons of information about plants growing successfully in Pakistan. The benefit of going through the database is it would save you time and provide other information which may prove to be useful later at time of planting that particular plant. We can always help you if you have any additional questions.

You may find the following post about common Palms available in Pakistan useful and the post contains images along with their ID's some of which have been corrected by Umar Khan at the end.

Good luck with your quest for new plants.

Actually Khurram sahab I have been studying the database & believe you me it's helped me a lot and for this I'm very thankful to all of you who have created this wonderful platform for the illiterate like me. But the thing is I've got almost no knowledge of botany so I get confused very easily over the terms even the botanical names. Thats why I posted this post. But I'm quite hurt honestly. But just forget about it. I pray may Allah swt bless all of you for your hard-work.

Please don't get hurt by constructive criticism. I am reminded of a wonderful letter written by Patras Bokhari to his son Haroon in 1949 when he was about to go to England for his higher studies. There's a wonderful phrase from that letter reproduced below.
"Nevertheless parents have an incurable habit of giving good advice, in season & out of it, even when it is not needed. It arises from affection and from anxiety for your welfare".

Brig Arif Sahib being our fatherly figure is giving advice which arises from affection and he has every right to do so. At times we may not realize that positive and healthy criticism is only for our good or betterment. Though you undoubtedly have gone through the plant database section but there are many new members who literally for the sake of convenience don't take the pain of browsing through that database. That was being mentioned by Brig Sahib. I hope you understand his reasoning. You may choose to read this letter at.
http://www.patrasbokhari.com/content/letter-father-son

I hope that moderators won't mind as i am going off topic.

The Plant Database section currently needs synchronization to show other newer ID's which hopefully would be done soon.

Ohh Khurram sahab!! You just made me more embarrassed. I said I felt hurt but I didn't mind his words believe you me. Indeed he is far more knowledgeable & I'm nothing in front of him. I have taken his words to my heart & working more efficiently now. :D Alhamdulillah!

And thanks to you also for your supportive and kind words. They have uplifted my spirits for gardening, truly. Jazak Allahu khayraan katheera!

I'm so gonna read this letter insha Allah!! :)
