Having stated that gardenias do not grow so well so why not go for other easy to grow plants instead; I managed to create an impression that I was against growing Gardenias.
To my delight the thread generated a healthy discussion and like me all must have gained a lot.
As I have mentioned before it fascinated me and I am even more determined to grow it well. Currently I have Gardenia Grandiflora (green leaf) 5 plants, Variegated 7 plants, Gardenia Thunbergia 1 and Gardenia Lucida 3 plants.
I have created a bed for Gardenia Grandiflora and included some Motias to see how they behave in Acidic soil. The bed gets full sun for 3 hours only.
The experiment will take a year for the result.

Gardenia Thunbergia (best fragrance)

How are they performing nowadays?? mine are in blooms (only the variegated) and the flower size is bigger then double size of last year's bloom and also much much more fragrant... the use of micronutrient foliar spray has worked..!!

A little change in PH has helped they are looking better than ever before but have not yet bloomed, perhaps I should also feed them DAP.
