SOWING DAYLILY SEEDS
After going through the various advices (on internet) I modified it to make it simple
I kept the seeds in refrigerator for 2 weeks, Soaked them over night in a weak solution of Hydrogen per oxide (to my surprise some were showing a white dot the next day).
I selected 16 0z plastic drinking glasses, made holes at the bottom and placed ¾ inch of washed gravel at the bottom (to prevent them from toppling), next I packed them with a moist mix of 70% Peat & 20% perlite. I planted 6 seeds in each glass ½ inch deep and placed the glasses in a trough of water to let them absorb as much water as they could, next I placed them on a tray to drain out the excess water. After few hours I placed the lid on the glasses, the lid will remain there until sprouting (no watering).
Two weeks later I will start bottom feeding them with 50 PPM N NPK2-1-2, the strength of feed will keep increasing with the growth of seedlings.

Re: SOWING DAYLILY SEEDS
My seed sowing experiment had 40% failure.
No germination in 6 glasses, perhaps they sucked up to much water.
Those which germinated also had to be replanted in bigger pots as the roots were coming out of drain holes.
Seedlings in pots according to parentage,

This time I have sown in large pots, (same) moist media Sealed at top. The idea is to leave them to grow until spring without transplanting.

Will they germinate?
Keeping my fingers crossed
Arif

The germination has started, I feel it will prove a better option.

Wow ! Nice . I have a question regarding seeds sowing in pots while covering with plastic sheet,, if a see moisture on the plastic sheet is it an indication of ample amount of water in soil and no needs rewatering? right? I have observed sometimes soil became dry but still moisture is observed on the cover sheet.

Re: SOWING DAYLILY SEEDS
Adnan, you are correct. You must have observed that I have used plastic pot, when sealed from top the medium will remain as moist as we started with. In future I will try the same method for other seeds too.Syed Adnan wrote:Wow ! Nice .
