Seed sowing time for Dahlia, Pansy, Sweet Sultan, Vinca.

Post by bigbaddoc »

I was out buying some vegetables from the sunday bazaar and spotted a vendor selling various seed packets. As usual i bought a few on a whim and would like some one to help me with the sowing dates. Seed packets i bought are
1. Dahlia mignon mix
2. Pansy White
3. Sweet Sultan
4. Vinca mixed

I live in islamabad and can only grow in pots :-(

When your area's Maximum temperature drops below 30oC this will be the sowing time of Dahlia, Pansy & Sweet Sultan, now this is little earlier. In Islamabad this is the perfect time for sowing Marigold. Vinca is summer flowering annual you can sow it after 15th April.

@zaib: nope not sure. But the objective here is to get something to germinate at all. I tried germinating Sunflower seeds earlier in the year and sweetpeas too but not one sprout :-( I'm new to all this and would like to get the hang of things before i venture into trying to germinate the more expensive and exotic. I also haven't had a very good experience planting out started plants from the nurseries as most of the people will tell you what they think you want to hear and have no idea about the variety etc. I did plant out some marigold Inca in yellow and gold . lets see what happens. Yes the same bazaar.

@Mirafzalkhan: thanks sir. your kind advise is most welcome.

These are not real packets.just only showing the flowers.all seeds will be locally collected.dont waste time on these seeds.its not the time for sowing for pansy, dahlia & sweet sultan.as Mir sb already said the tem below 30 ant is not yet below 30 in islamabad.u can get F1 hybrid seedlings from Peshawar on reasonable prices.if u wnt real F1 quality seeds visit Green Impex,Ayub mkt,F8 markaz.

Buy seedlings and grow them.. instead of buying seeds initially...
