Fastest Growing Tree
Which tree is recommended as fastest growing tree ? I pan to utilize a space of about 1600 sq ft for wood supply for general purposes like burning, fence posts etc. I have read the discussion in this forum on Eucalyptus tree although internet research has very varied opinions on it. Other choices are bamboo (but what specie ? ) and poplar ?
Suggestions are appreciated and shall be very helpful.
Kindly see that planting area would be Potohar, near Islamabad.
regards

Re: Fastest Growing Tree
Poplar tree is best suited, it is our native "Populus ciliata"

Re: Fastest Growing Tree
Izhar sb, how would you propagate Poplar tree ? Eucalyptus tree is propagated by coppicing leaving few inches and 3-4 new trees grow again. Can we do coppicing for poplar too ?

Re: Fastest Growing Tree
Poplar has a more apical growing pattern compared to eucalyptus.. that is why it responds comparatively less on coppicing.. Poplar propagation is very easy with cuttings..

Re: Fastest Growing Tree
Thank you Izhar sb., Found out that Willow will also do good as a good competitive tree in fast growth with Poplar.
