KARACHI
Dear Kashif,
Have grown lettuce in Karachi from last week of October. I have sown Iceberg "Georgia" from seeds which I picked up from a local seed shop. These germinated about 80% and are good so far.
Also, have sown Cos/Romaine lettuce from seeds - " Little Gem " . These too have germinated about 80% and are doing good. In fact I just picked the 1st lettuce head today.
I have found lettuce easy to grow and this is my 3rd year of growing lettuce - both varieties.
Need good soil with lots of compost and exposure to sun a good 6 hours per day.
Multan shud be ideal for lettuce.
Happy sowing

Hi kashif..maybe the lettuce seeds were not viable ?? buy fresh seed from credible suppliers and when sowing always cover the seeds with a thin half inch layer of peat moss, compost or coco coir and cover the pots with plastic sheet to avoid moisture loss for success.

This time there certainly is problem with lettuce seeds germination.I have sown it three times durig last 6 weeks, but without success, though earlier I thought it was one of the easiest to grow. The seed dealer in Pindi/Islamabad has also confirmed having recieved complaints in this regard.kashifhuraira wrote:Dear Members
