Since it is a proper tree, plant it in a large container for a good growth.Interestingly,as per Agriculture Dept (NARC) a Chinese Lemon in container bears fruit round the year, whereas one in ground does it for 4-5 months ie Nov-Mar; reason not known to me.However,I would be able to confirm if it is correct or otherwise by mid next year,as I have both categories, presently bearing fruit-those in ground very heavily laden.

In fact, this is the ordinary/common lemon now, probably the only one sold in nurseries these days.Taste not much different from the erstwhile/almost extinct local lemon.

Lemon trees tend to grow fast and even if placed in even a large pot would would need shifting within two years as roots tend to grow very fast. Would suggest growing it in ground.
