Aoa Ahmad.pruning roses is very serious job.it can kill your roses & it can improve your bushes.pruning roses depends on your local climate.i prune my roses in end of Dec.but in Lahore it will be earlier.Prune when you are expecting when the buds will sprout, danger of frost will be past.if you prune too earlier, frost will kill all the sprouting buds resulting in death of the bush.if too late you will not get the color of the blooms.actually pruning bush boost up the buds to sprout & they sprout within a week.this judg is depends on your skill.always prune hard.the harder you prune the better blooms you will get.after pruning apply old cow manure & DAP & water the bushes.keep Imidacloprid insecticide in store after pruning.normally when the buds sprouts & the weather getting warm.Aphids attach the soft foliage & flower buds.check your bushes on daily bases.as soon as you see any Aphids, spray Imida.its good if you spray in evening in order to save the wild life.i think its enough.enjoy your roses in coming spring.

Lahore's winter is quite unpredictable past few years. I think now our coldest time is probably the first two weeks of January. It might be better to prune in January but this can be adjusted based on what the trend looks like in the weather. I had to prune some of my more aggressive rose vines even this month to keep them in check.

Don't prune in November. I had to prune early last year due to heavy fungal infection due to my carelessness in spraying. I lost a lot of new growth to the cold. I plan on pruning first week of January inshallah and try to root those cuttings.
