Re: Rose problems
The new Rose forum is created and all Topics on Roses are moved to the new forum. If anyone found Topics still need to be moved please mention.rafique wrote:Dear Izhar and khabab please do favor as requested in rose problems section.
Or initiate a single thread to integrate all issues related to roses(From plantation till maintaince complete cycle) . Or create a section of roses….if possible it would be helpful for many not only me.
Please categorize if possible.
No we don't think in that manner, but we always welcome positive suggestion like yours.rafique wrote:Please don’t think I am doing it for some specific reasons rather I just love roses and want to have as many as possible in a better way in my lawn.

We are a team, if you appreciate one of us it means you appreciated all of us. There are two other new members to our moderator team Farhan(farhan137) & Faisal Riaz please welcome them.rafique wrote: Sorry Mir Sb. Izhar merged the topic. Thanks to him and you too for the prompt concern.

Re: Rose problems
Ohh, I have planted 2 desi roses in a single pot of 20 inch diameter and at reasonable distance, really distance is a matter? If I dont separate them than what will happen?

Re: Rose problems
Two roses in a single pot is a bad bad idea. Roses don't like other plants (or roses) intruding into their root zone and fighting for nutrients .. separate them so they grow to their fullest .. And when choosing a container, look for deep and wide, not just the top diameter.riaz wrote:Ohh, I have planted 2 desi roses in a single pot of 20 inch diameter and at reasonable distance, really distance is a matter? Re: Rose problems
I will post pictures to tell what rose leaf looks like in water shortage and water excess.
Excess and shortage both cause Browning of leaf . I hope the pictures help all rose growers .

Re: Rose problems
Very nice thread. To summarize, and some additions...
- plant them preferably 3 feet Part
- do not fertilize in first 6 months or till plant looks like its established some
- initially medium should have lots of "well rotted" cow manure (if you can find it!) since fresh manure just dried will burn the roots.
- spray fungicides like Bayer's Alliette specially in humid months or moist cold months
- spray anti aphids like Aceta Mepard in Spring when you see signs
- avoid pruning first year
- break buds off the first year to help plant divert energy to better root growth
- once established, fertilize liberally since they are big feeders
- cow manure in winter, leaf mold in summer
- don't forget Epsom salts for better color
- at least 6 hours direct sunlight for best results
- remove bad blooms in summer since in the heat the looms get smaller, twisted and non fragrant
- when pruning then prune just above an outward growing bud
- if black spot and mold seen the remove affected foliage also as well as spraying
- avoid getting leaves wet especially at night since that encourages fungus and also the splattering spreads the mold to other plants.
