Khan saheb I gave DAP in winter and some Potash now. So far only NPK I've given is one dose water soluble very light and two foliar sprays. My rises though just one year old seem to be gobbling it up and punching out growth. No burn yet. Ideally everyone will recommend no fertilizers first year, just cow manure. I think we tend to over do with fertilizers.

Also important no note, the water in Lahore was tested by Khabbab with a pH kit and he said it is alkaline. Roses live acidity, so it's a good idea to off and on water with Iron! This will especially be helpful if you see pale leaves. Almost all roses should have dark green healthy foliage.

Umar, nice to see you browsing the forum. You have posted very nice pics; are these current ones or old ? If old, which month? When exactly are the roses in peak bloom? Regards.

Always love to see ur roses umar sb. I was just sharing the words of nursery man who was growing roses. other wise you are growing roses with perfection. i always look forward for your advice.

the second most important issue mentioned just Dr sb. is alkaline nature of lahore water causing saline soil. last year i was ignorant about this fact and lost alot of roses. but this year i am trying again to get better roses and controlling salinity with iron sulfate and elemental sulfar grains.

Umar sb i have almost 70 roses planted in november. they has started to spruting out and as per your earliar advice i gave them old manure. these days i am spraying them npk 20 20 20 weekly. also sprinkle granular npk plus iron sulphate lightly with water flooding.
lets see whats would be the result?

umar sb i am planting roses becasue of you.
Dr.Sb i am now preferring to plant fragrant roses because of you. last year i was having only three fragrant and now its about 12.
grateful to both of you for such great information sharing.

Aoa Rafique yes you are right mostly of our soil is highly Alkaline.unfortunately the use of DAP is also increasing day by day.the professional farmers should be educated about it.DAP increase the alkaline factor.Roses prefer medium Ph.say 6-7.we are brothers & nature lovers so i don,t like sb or other words like it.we will learn so much from each others first hand experiences.for me first is rose then any other flower.

Munir Mid-March to late April will be peak at Islamabad.actually it depends on local weather.i am not getting chance even to hoe my beds.its because of prolonged rains.its expected that we will receive some more shores after a day.now i have decided just pull out the weeds instead of hoeing.members from Lahore will enjoy their roses first as its warmer than our zone.
