Daffodils and Narcissus(Nargis) are the same specie or they different species of the same genus???

WSA, Interesting question. Narcissus is Latin genus name which contains the plants like daffodils and nargis. To be sure, I checked the OED for you, which says that modern English usage of daffodil is now restricted to Narcissus pseudonarcissus. It is a yellow flower with a yellow trumpet. In loose usage, daffodil is used for similar colours as well.

Nargis is our Pakistani plant, which is white with a yellow trumpet- often used in poetry- hence Narcissus poeticus. This the same Nargis of the Allama Iqbal jo "Hazaron saal nargis apnee baynoori pay roti hey, bari mushkil sey hota hey chaman mein deeda-wer payda"

Umar sb and Hamad sb might tell you more as bulb experts.

Narcissus & Daffodils are the same genus but for the sake of easy classification both have divided in the two main groups.Narcissus have small flower, more than one on single stem & many varieties are fragrant. Daffodils have large bloom size & normally have one bloom per stalk.Daffodils normally are non fragrant.
Narcissus is a very diverse & large genus.Narcissus & Daffodils are further divided into so many classes.for example Daffodils are divided into Trumpet daffos like King Alfred, Big cup like pheasants eye, Small cupped, Split cupped like Casata, doubles & so many.Narcissus is the Latin name also for the genus which consist more than 50 species.Like Amaryllis & Hyacints Narcissus is a true bulb.
