Description | Carissa carandas is a thorny plant that can be grown as a hedge or as a climbing bush with supports. The small white flowers are very fragrants and the resulting fruits look like small apples. A combination of small apple like fruits and white flowers give a very beautiful image to a garden. The thorns are long and bird (bulbul) are fond of making their nests in this bush. Fruits are rich in iron and are used for making pickles. Very fast grower. It should be able to fruit in 1-2 years. No special pests or diseases known. |
