Description

Senecio rowleyanus or commonly called String of pearl plant is a succulent plant from Aster family. It is native a South African native and is usually grown for its intriguing foliage that resemble pearls or beads strung together in a string. The plant has delicate creamy white blooms that emit Cinnamon like fragrance during the day. The plant is very popular as a hanging basket plant as a ground cover. Once established it is fairly Drought tolerant so it can be used as an Xeriscape feature. Propagation is done by stem cuttings that can be laid flat on the ground, roots will develop from leaf axils where the leaves are attached to the stem. All parts of the plant are Poisonous so should not be consumed.
