AoA. I am totally novice in gardening thing but want to learn quickly using this very helpful forum. Have recently moved to Pindi and have a small lawn of size 15'x20' and kitchen garden of size 8'x15', with almost nothing in it. Want to benefit from this forum to have some thing worth presentable and good on eyes.

Welcome & happy introduction to gardening. So, the Rawalpindi / Islamabad Chapter is also now growing fast. Hope we ll start growing our gardens well, as well, though seems difficult to catch up with Karachi & Lahore, especially with the heavy weights there, the balance further tilting with the impending move of the ever green Farhan. We are happy with them as our leaders, anyway.

Welcome to the forum.. i would recommend you to first find out the sun exposure of your garden.. this is one the most overlooked part in the kitchen gardening, i have seen gardeners complaining that their plants are not growing despite using fertilizers and healthy seedling, a direct sunlight for at least 4-5 hours is a must for the plants to grow and produce.. having said that, there are plants which tolerate low light and if you plan your garden before growing plants, you will not be disappointed inshaAllah..

Thx every one for welcoming me on this forum. Yes I have a problem of sun light, its abt 2 hours a day on both lawn and kitchen garden. I ll need your guidance for grass as well as plants. For grass i think I ll have to do it from scratch and for which i think i should see this rainy season go off n then visit da nursery at Sawan, GT road (about which i heard from my (so called) mali who is a local). Some one to please guide me about type of plants, vines and grass (Korean, Dhaka, etc) that i should have in my garden keeping in view the availability of limited sun light. By the way sun light is ok during summers, the problem is only b/w months of Nov to April.
Yes, Islamabad/Rawalpindi chapter will now grow further hopefully. Thx in advance.
Javed Ashraf.

Javed,Visit the Playland(?)nursery near Shifa Eye Hosp; it is good & has a lot of variety, though may be slightly expensive than others in the vicinty. The one near Swan- your Mali may be refering, is below the bridge; coming from the city side take a left u turn immediately after crossing the river. Both sell all types of grass, including Dacca & Korean. I prefer Fine Dacca, with which I ve replaced American & Korean, recently.
