I was searching for tips on growing motia and came across your post in Garden Geek. I have few questions I hope you will be able to help me out. I recently got motia cuttings and two small motia plants with roots. I planted them in small pots. The plants with roots are still green and their leafs are intact but its almost 15 days since I got them and i don’t see any growth in it, like new leafs etc. Is this normal?

I'm not sure about the motia cuttings if they survived or not as most of the cuttings lost their leafs, except one which still has some greenery on certain parts and still hold few leafs.

I live in North East USA, closer to Philadelphia / New York . I used the following potting mix in the pots.
http://www.homedepot.com/Miracle-Gro/h_ ... ogId=10053

Right now its very hot and sunny, av daily temp is around 100 F. I'm watering them, both the cuttings and plants with root, daily once. Is this sufficient?

Also in your tips you mentioned to use "epsom salt", should I try that too. If you like I can send you pictures so that you can better understand the issue.

Thanks for your help and waiting for a reply

Let them overcome trans-planting/trans-location shock. Leave them be,just wait and see.

Sorry asad i was too busy in the month of Ramadan to reply through email.

Agree with Brig. Arif. Don't do anything. When you see plants are stable and fresh growth then think about doing some thing. Keep cuttings in total shade but bright indirect sunlight. Always remove the leaves specially lower ones and large ones before planting the cutting. Plants should get only few hours morning sun no after noon sun until they grow good. The potting mix should be able to hold lots of moisture, not much need to nutrition. Yours seem fine. Water the cuttings only if you feel the soil is not moist. Sprinkle the cuttings and plants as much as you can.

Here are few posts related to motia which should help you.

No improvement yet. No new growth. The old leaves have started to curl. Any suggestion?

remove all leaves, wait for the new growth.when the new buds sprouts wait until the plants are hardy enough to replant in their final position.have you dipped the cuutings bottom cuts in rooting harmoon powder.it promote healthy root grwoth.check the cuttings are they still green in color ar changed yellow.if they are green, wait untill the new buds sprouts.

try to keep the soil moist but not wet.keep the rooted cuttings under filtred sun, they have more chance to survive than the cuttings.wait & watch.let the rooted cuttings observe the shock.

About a week ago I cut some motia branches with flowers and buds and put them in a vase, the flowers and buds after blooming are gone but the leaves are as fresh as on the plant. I have a feeling they will grow roots. Will they?
