Can someone tell me if there is mission and vision statement for this organization? Also I think there should be an elected president, VP, general sec, treasurer and so on. Since we are growing it is time to look in to this request.
Thanks.

Good idea for the future but I guess almost all active contributors and users are hobbyists. Although the number of registered members is large, less than 20 are active contributors. The jobs that you suggest demand significant voluntary time. Lets see what the key persons, donors, & the very founder of this forum have to say.

Farooq

Is it a suggestion or a request? In both cases what weaknesses have you detected that would get improved?
What is needed the most is more active participation, frank healthy discussions. Please forgive this grumpy old man, we have some highly educated (in this field) members who have yet to contribute and who do not have the courtesy to respond even when requested by name.
I think the present set up is doing an EXCELLENT job in keeping it going.

This forum is for all those who love gardening and want to discuss their experiences , want to share their efforts and want to help others for the same. This forum is providing a lot of entertainment to hobbyiest people who find a relaxing time visiting this webpage viewing at the blooms and planning it for them as well, discussing their problems, getting advices and improving their knowledge.

ASA Mr. Arif Khan,
My suggestion to you will be to please read what I initially wrote. Does a matter if it was a request or a suggestion? There is always room for improvement in whatever you do in life. If one is grumpy old man so be it, I do not have a problem with any personality a person has.
I want everyone in Pakistan to become addicted to this forum and we should be world wide appeciated by all Pakistani living abroad.

I appreciate your feelings but what concrete suggestions you have to make it more popular? I guess, the contribution was not about the money but that of time. If there is a president, but does nothing, then what would be the advantage of having one. My suggestion was to induct couple of volunteer professionals (botanists, taxonomists, holticulturists etc.). None of us have any formal training in plant sciences. In my opinion "Flowers of India" that is the closest model one can follow or idealize. Unfortunately, their plants list does not overlap Pakistani garden flora very well- since it is more dominated by wild flowers (i.e. it is more comprehensive). They have couple of volunteer professionals. Have a look at that website. In this way, it is not a monetary/ time wise burden on anyone.

Another suggestion that some people liked here was that we set up a plant identification database - again like the "Flowers of India" a more organized one. That plant list will grow with time of course. People post pictures, people identify and then it is stored in an organized list.

Farooq

The response of Syed adnan above answers the purpose part. Farooq rightly said that when enough active contributors will be there we will formalize things.

@aHussian, we would appreciate suggestions not questions. It is easy to criticize, difficult to suggest, no?

You initially wanted to know mission and vision, Please look at the top of the page IT IS CONNECTING COMMUNITY THROUGH GARDENING
In the next sentence you say there should be an elected President, a VP,a general Sec, and a treasurer, on which I asked you WHAT WEAKNESSES HAVE YOU FOUND prompting you to ask for this change and how will it improve imparting of gardening knowledge amongst the members.
My next Hint ( Please forgive this grumpy old man, we have some highly educated (in this field) members who have yet to contribute and who do not have the courtesy to respond even when requested by name) was for some older but sleeping members and not for YOU. By word contribute I mean sharing of gardening experience and not monetary contribution.
Pakistani and world wide appreciation will depend on quality of posts and discussions and not on organisation

If the Founder, the Organisers and Moderators feel they are being over burdened let them ask for suggestions.
