What an excellent and informative post. Its great to see the plants in their native habitat and how healthy they look.
I should imagine to get the fishtail palms to flourish in our seasonally harsh pakistan environment we would need to create a leafmould compost with a consistently shaded moist environment. Similar to a greenhouse.

Thanks for your comments. In Pakistan, most of the Caryotas can be grown in partial sun and if the position is good, in full sun also. The soil though needs to be kept moist all the time (good drainage is needed). I don't think there should be much of a problem in Jhelum, just give it a sheltered location where it does not have a direct exposure to hot wind in Jun/Jul and frost during Jan / Dec.
