I was also reading about it from some days and found these pics. They are normally hanged in Bathrooms where they get the required moisture.
Khan sb I saw it in Safeway in Canada. This air plant is a desert plant so it requires bright light. It I have keep the glass bulb right under a white tubelight...so moisture is not the only requirement but bright light is as well.

However the epiphyte ferns, orchids...I have seen them growing in relative shade.

Wow Kaleem shb you have an amazing collection of interesting and unique "air" plants. Have you ever seen them flower? I never saw such "Air" plants in Karachi (ignoring orchids as epiphytes). Where did you buy them from?

Air plant is a general term used for all types of epiphytic plants that take their nutrition from the atmosphere (humid air & rain) through their leaves / stems and not through the roots. Their roots are just a means to attach themselves with host trees / object on which they live. They are all found in rainforests / high humidity areas though certain species can also be seen in desert like environment, but always near water springs and protected areas where they get enough humidity and protection from the harsh weather. Main groups of these epiphytic plants includes bromeliads, orchids and certain ferns.

These plants can be successfully grown in areas like Karachi, Gwader, Pasni etc but making them survive in areas like Islamabad, Lahore etc, one would need to create controlled environment which is difficult to maintain for a longer duration of time. These are fascinating plants but not suitable for our area other than coastal areas. :)

My collection, photo was taken when I was in Mirpur.
There is no special care is required in, just protect from Direct Sun Light and frost (Korra). Central part should always filled with water.

Nice. I have seen ultra bright red Bromeliads, they look very beautiful as well. Will post a picture if I get time.
What I have noted is that Bromeliads, although they are air plants, are always sold as a potted plant in soil. Why this is so? Can one hang these plants in air like Tillandsia?

AoA everyone,
I am new to this forum and interested in Air plants. Can anyone please tell me from where I can get these in Rawalpindi? And what do we call them in urdu? or at the nurseries here?

Any guidance in this regard is much appreciated.
