So this is the true "nargis" Narcissus poeticus which the poets refer to? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissus_poeticusnewton wrote:That particular one is called narcissus Pheasents Eye. It is a very fragrant variety and the last one in the series to flower.
I thought that yellow eyed daffodil is the true daffodil. Never saw this variety in Pakistan or elsewhere.

Farooq sb Daffodils & Primeroses are very common at Abbottabad & Murree.one of my friend at Abbottabad has so many Daff varieties but i don,t know why don,t he comes on the forum. When i was at Abbottabad i had some 15 varieties like Dutch master,Pheasants eye,King Alfred but we sale out the house.Actually Daffs need chill hours.our Nargis is very nice which even bloom in our hot climate & are considered of prime quality in Europe.
Prime roses Pacifics & Malacoides are perrenial in cool climate. These plants are not for us in the plains.i,l request my friend once again if i visited him at Abbottaba.he has hundreds of Prime roses.so many Cyclamens,Gereniums,Azeleas,Tiger lilies,Decorative dahlias,Cactus dahlias.but the real factor is the temprature.

Re: Narcissus Daffodils and Polyanthus
due to our climate it is very difficult to get the Narcissus bloom specailly the 2nd year, the desi nargis is the best for pakistani gardeners.

There are daffodils for zone 10 which do great and have been flowering for me two or three years in a row like Chinese Sacred Lily.

Sir, what you are referring to is 'Polianthes tuberosa' which is the common tuberose. Polyanthus is another name for Primulas...it is just the difference in spellingMuhammad Arif Khan wrote:Strange no one pointed out Polyanthes is tube rose and the pictures are of Primula.
