You are absolutely right Brig sb unfortunately I am a rather humble and sad person who does collect the leaves off the footpaths and the lawns. rather than dispose of them in the bin I simply place them into a home made compost area. To this throughout the year I add pulled up weeds, sweeping and straw bedding from my chicken hutches, seaweed, disposed of annuals/perennials/vegetable and ashes from the garden incinerator.

The result is that every time I wish to plant or mulch I have barrow loads of the stuff and it works a lot better than the retailed products. (BTW ive started keeping Pakistani breed Asil cockrels again)
