Best medium for rooting cuttings in monsoon

Post by khabbab »

Last year i used 100% coco peat and my cuttings rot due to over humidity maybe. What is the best medium for rooting cuttings? What about 50% sand and 50% cocopeat? Any tips for preventing rotting?

It can also be dipped in pure honey. Honey is not a rooting hormone but it provides anti fungal protection plus the required sugars. For further research, net is there.

Your soil must be sandy as compared to our clay soil so i will have to put some sand in it i guess.

Most Karachi cuttings are in local yellow sand. It is experienced that these rooted cuttings when planted here do not survive. An experienced deputy Director of PHA on seeing the Brugmansia rooted cuttings that Izhar had sent meTold me that I should have washed out all sand before planting, they wont survive and they did not.
Well life is lke that.
