Post by arshee »

Hi everyone!

I have just moved to Mardan. I want to make best use of two pieces of lawns in newly allotted house. I am newbie in this field and want you people to guide me to grow flowers/vegs suitable to Mardan climate over next month period.

One lawn is approx 16x16 feet while other is 25x25 feet.

Welcome to the Forum.....
Spring is almost here. To brighten up the place only option now is to get ready made flowering plants.
I would suggest that you utilize this time, instead for preparing your beds for summer plants by weeding them, fertilizing them etc.

You can browse forum to see the possibilities that can be grown. Mardan is no different and almost everything can be tried which is naturalized.

For veggies see following link for Vegetable growing calender

Welcome to my home town Mardan.its the flowering time for spring annuals.you will have to start from summer annuals.Zinnia Magellan,Zinnia Dream Land,Portulaca Sundial,Per Portulaca,Canna ,Sun flower will be best to start.in rainy season you can try Balsam as well for shady locations. In mid August you will plant Mari golds Inca,Discover,Vanilla or Bonanza depending on your personal choice.from Mid Oct to Nov where you have not planted gold you can plant cool season (spring flowering) annuals depending on your personal taste & the locations you wish to fill.our climate is very good for roses but if your are on posting here & will leave after few years then roses are not for you.Nercissus & Amaryllis are best bulbs in Mardan.

Thanks Umar

Yes I am on posting here and dont know how much time I have to stay here.

Can you, being from Mardan, please guide me about where to get these varieties you mentioned?

I want to make use of one piece of land for flowering plants and other for vegs. In fact I want those varieties which can yield flowers in a shorter span of time and are fragrant as well. Pardon me if I am getting over ambitious :) .
