Underground Insects

Post by muhammadimran7 »

Aoa
I have also little space in my native town Jehlum where I performed little gardening activities as shown below. The problem is that there is lot of different kinds of insets which are underground especially big black ants which really bite hard. They are creeping here and there and sometime get access to the kitchen and rooms as well. How to get rid of them because performing gardening activities in their presence is difficult

Walekum assalam

I once had ants in my planting potts. I used "Dalchini" to get rid from them. Dalchini function as repellent. Spread powder or spray Dalchini oil or simply put Dalchini stick near the holes of ants. Though This will not kill ants or not the permanent solution for ur problem. This is short time solution to get rid from ants as Dalchini lost his affects after some time the ants come again.

ants don't harm plants as such, use coopex powder if you must to get rid of them or drench the soil if you see their mound.

Will coopex powder kill spider mites, a major infestation has started :o

I used Talstar recommended by Sir Umar, the mites were gone, but came back a week after..should i repeat spray...Plus, foliage and flowers were damaged by the pesticide solution.

Coopex powder don't work to kill spider mites. Once I used it on spidermites but it did not work.

Coopex powder is permethrin/Pyrethrum and is a non-selective insecticide, it will kill mites on contact, dust on the underside and avoid spraying water.

Mites are not insects, they are arachnids... that is why insecticides dont work for mites...

difference between insects and arachnids are anatomical and not physiological as such. Like 6 legs or 8 legs :-). From scientific POV yes they are not insects but for pyrethrin it shouldn't be a consideration as it attacks the nervous system. It can even kill cats and fishes in a higher doze. As per my experience it works and is also cited on the web repeatedly.
