Hello,
I was wondering if guys measure your plant's soil's pH value. I have been looking through various forums and they all seem to agree on one thing: pH is very important for plant's growth and it should be monitored throughout plant's life cycle.
So do you guys monitor it? if yes, then what meter do you use? from where did you buy it ?
Help will be appreciated in this regard.
How to you measure your soil's PH?

Soil pH is important in case you are having problems. In our typical home gardens it is not a major problem. There are very few plants which give us lot of trouble because of pH, e.g. gardenia and ixora. These plants show yellowing of leaves. People have shared many nice recipes for addressing the yellowing of the leaves Measuring the pH throughout the plant's life cycle is just like measuring your body temperature everyday with a thermometer without any sign of fever :-).
Do you have specific plants which are giving you trouble in terms of yellowing etc.?
Regards.

I see. Well I currently do not have plants that require pH monitoring but I have ordered some seeds and those plants are very sensitive to this pH levels.
Do you monitor pH levels? if so, what equipment do you use?

I couldn't agree more. another thing is over-watering. Another prime vice.Rohail Asad wrote:ph conscious gardner is always in trouble. another trouble is Extensive use of fertilizer.

Hahaha, well then I wil forget pH for now and will try your seedling mix. If that fails, then I will indulge in this pH thing.

I never measured the soil pH of my home garden. Some people like to do it when they face problems esp. those who are professional horticulturists. As I mentioned earlier, Ixora and Gardenia are common victims. I don't recall any other common plant giving so much trouble as these two. As long as you stick with natural things such as cow's manure (khaad) and bhalu matti...you will not have problems.

Salaam
I do have a PH and humidity meter, but I think it is not accurate, I bought it in Rs 900 from a shop here in gulberg,
I found testing kit (water based) more help full, I also confirmed it with soil lab tests.
