How to prune a Wisteria Tree?

I've heard from Khabbab that the wisteria vine needs to be pruned in December if you want it to flower. I have a Wisteria Tree, any advice how to prune it if at all? Should I just prune the side branches about 4 inches from the main stem? Picture attached.

All wisteria grown from seeds take 5 years or more.

This might not have been grown from seed. I bought it as a small tree and since then it has grown a few inches. I needed to know how to prune a wisteria tree as opposed to the regular wisteria vine.
